FILT NET BAG WITH SHORT HANDLE - 11 COLOURS AVAILABLE
Nestled in the lovely French town of Caen, in Normandy, is the Filt bag company – a family-run business with a history that runs back to 1860.
In the 17th century, on the Caen plain near Mount Saint-Michel, Norman peasants made nets by hand. In 1860 these workers got organised and Filt was formed.
In 1945, Filt was in ruins after the bombing of Caen. The workshop was completely destroyed. It's not until three years later in 1948 that the production begins again following their resolve to rebuild the site and maintain the manufacturing of the traditional nets. These traditional net shopping bags from Filt have had a resurgence in France and so we visited the Filt factory to pick up a selection to bring back for you.
Bright and strong, retro and traditional, modern and versatile, we love these bags – just like the old French grandmas used to. From collecting your market groceries, to storing your wet swimsuit after the beach, Filt bags are handy for all sorts. What will you carry in your Filt bag?
